Uniforms for dentists
Dentists in the UK wear uniforms whilst working. This may be a simple white coat or surgeon style pyjamas. Your dental practice may prefer you to wear a particular style and colour to fit in with their practice style.
There are various companies that stock uniforms for dentists and dental staff and your principal may suggest a company that the dental practice uses regularly.
Transport for your interview or new job
It's best to plan and sometimes book ahead to arrange transport for
your interview or new job. Britain has a good network of flights,
railways, and bus routes if travelling in for an interview from
abroad or intercity in the UK.
Interview expenses are the responsibility of the interviewee and not
refunded by the practice so it's in your best interest to find the best
value reliable travel options.
Train travel tends to be more expensive than intercity buses or
coaches. Several airlines offer cheap deals on intercity flights
outside peak holiday periods so do check these out.
When arriving from a long distance, always plan to arrive early.
Britain's trains and sometimes planes are prone to delays. Certain
motorways are prone to congestion at peak periods which can result in
delays of up to several hours. Notable blackspots are the M25 around
London and the M6 near Birmingham. For a morning interview, arrive the day
before.
There is also the possibility of car hire rental if you have several
interviews within driving distance of each other. And, if you're flying in
from abroad for an interview, arrange for car rental beforehand to ensure
that a car is available and ready for you on arrival.
Useful travel web sites:
If the dental practice you're visiting is in a city or town, always ask
for directions and advice from the practice. If your point of arrival is a
railway or bus station, the dental staff will be able to let you know
whether it's within walking distance, which buses to catch or whether a
taxi is the best option. The Multimap
or similar sites will enable you to print out a map showing the location
of a dental practice.
